This was 196+ forum Munich 2026

The 196+ forum Munich on 7–8 October 2026 welcomed over 260 attendees, including 25 international speakers and moderators, as well as over 45 sponsoring partners, at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof Munich.

The motto of this year’s 196+ forum Munich was “Holistic Transformation – the need for radical change in the hospitality sector”. The diverse conference programme featured engaging panel discussions on “Trading Through Pressure” and “The Radical Reset”, inspiring Project Showcases featuring MOOONS, Villa Viva and MM:NT, Masterclasses on Branded Residences and “Context is the New Capital” powered by MEWS, as well as a CEO Interview with Karl-Heinz Pawlizki. We would like to thank our moderators and speakers as well as all attendees for their active participation.

Five start-ups competed for the Hospitality UPGRADE Award 2026, with the winner Protabo, represented by Managing Director Amir A.V. Pourirani.

The Gala Dinner once again proved to be the highlight of the event, celebrating, for the first time in the history of the Hotel Property Award, three winners: Arcotel Tabakfabrik in Linz (Austria), Casa Cook Madonna in Madonna di Campiglio (Italy) and Hotel Schani City in Vienna (Austria).

On the following day, three Walk & Talk Tours guided participants through different parts of Munich, showcasing architectural highlights, hospitality hotspots and culinary experiences, ending with a delightful finale at the Molteni&C Flagship Store.

Highlight: The Hotel Property Award 2026

Established in 2002, the Hotel Property Award is considered one of the most prestigious annual European hospitality real estate awards. An independent jury nominates up to ten hotels and shortlists three finalists, which are presented at the 196+ forum Munich. The award ceremony and announcement of the winner took place at the Gala Dinner at Hotel Bayerischer Hof Munich.

The Hotel Property Award 2026 received a total of 24 hotel submissions from 11 different European countries. Thanks to the independent jury, who had to face a tough selection, we were able to celebrate three winners for the first time in the history of the Hotel Property Award: Arcotel Tabakfabrik in Linz (Austria), Casa Cook Madonna in Madonna di Campiglio (Italy) and Hotel Schani City in Vienna (Austria). Congratulations to all three of them!

Hospitality UPGRADE Award 2026

196+ forum Munich and Hospitality Pioneers are supporting young innovative start-ups from all over Europe in partnership with an industry partner.

The award appeals to innovative start-ups making a relevant contribution to current and future challenges of the hospitality industry, along the whole value chain from hotel development to hotel operations.

An advisory board selects up to five finalists from among all applicants to pitch against each other at 196+ forum Munich. The Award is presented at the end of the Conference day.
